At a time when some segments of the industry are talking of teething troubles after the Goods and Service Tax (GST) rollout, the Finance Ministry launched 'GST Rates Finder' mobile app on Friday, which allow consumers verify the accurate tax rate on commodity and services under the new tax regime. The app would also work in offline mode, once downloaded on the smartphones by the users. Apart from the mobile application, the ‘GST Rates Finder’ section has been uploaded on the online portal ‘cbec-gst.gov.in’ to help taxpayers know applicable GST rate on their commodities. The search can be made based on description of goods or services or HSN Chapter or section or heading number.

How the GST Rate Finder  App Works?



  1. Download the app “GST Rates Finder” on your smartphones
  2. Once downloaded, it can work in offline mode
  3. Enter the name or chapter heading of the commodity or service to determine the GST rate of a good/service
  4. The search result will list all the Goods and Services containing the name which was typed in the search box
