Until that deadline, candidates can apply for jobs in various government sectors according to their ability and talent, he said. The joint entrance test will be conducted by the National Recruitment Agency. He said it was like a milestone in the reforms undertaken in the history of the country. Appointment, selection process will be simplyfied through this NRA and CET.
Presently there are more than 20 recruitment agencies in the country, said Union Secretary C Chandramouli. Among these only three companies have so far conducted joint entrance exams, he said. With the formation of the National Recruitment Agency NRA , all the more than 20 recruitment agencies in the country will come under one umbrella. Chandramouli explained that in the near future, all these institutions will have a single common entrance test.
An average of 2.5 crore to 3 crore candidates appeared for each examination. Candidates with this joint qualifying test will be able to appear for the examination once and for all at one or all of the higher level examinations conducted by these recruitment agencies. It was like a boon to all the candidates. The National Recruitment Agency (NRA), a multi-agency agency, conducts a joint qualifying test to screen or shortlist candidates for Group B and Group-C (non-technical) posts. The NRA consists of representatives from the Ministry of Railways, the Ministry of Finance, the Department of Financial Services, SSC, RRB and IBPS.
NRA is a specialist organization for the latest technology and best practices in central government recruitment. In addition, the establishment of examination centers in every district of the country will make the examination centers more accessible to the candidates residing in remote areas. With a special focus on providing adequate infrastructure to conduct the exams in the 117 aspiring districts of the country, it will be crucial for the candidates to be able to write the exams close to where they reside. Among the benefits that come from this are cost, labor, and security.
The proposal will not only make the examination centers accessible to rural students, but also enable students from far-flung areas to take part in the Central Government examinations, thereby increasing their representation in Central Government jobs. Bringing employment opportunities to the people is a revolutionary act. It contributes a lot to the easy life of the youth. Candidates are currently appearing for various exams conducted by multiple agencies. In addition to the examination fee, the candidates have to bear other expenses like travel, meals and lodging. From now on, the financial burden will be reduced for most of the candidates in a single exam.
Women candidates, especially those from rural areas, needed to be provided with transport facilities and arrangements to stay in a remote area if they wanted to appear for different examinations. Women candidates had to accompany them once in a while to go to distant examination centers. The setting up of an examination center in each district will be of great benefit to rural candidates, especially women candidates. Previously, candidates from rural backgrounds had to choose which examination they would like due to other financial constraints. But under the current NRA candidates can write an exam and compete for many posts.
NRA conducts the first phase, Tier-1 test. It serves as the basis for many other options. The CET score of the candidates is valid for a period of three years from the date of disclosure of the results. The candidate with the best valid score will be considered as the current score. Candidate can write CET exam any number of times. There are no restrictions on this. However, this is subject to the maximum age limit. Candidates from SC, ST, OBC and other categories will be eligible for concession within the maximum age limit as per government policy. It is very useful in overcoming all the hassles like effort, time and money that go into each year to write these tests.
